Five One Acts: A Comedy Collection

Mission Creek Players are very excited to be back with a very fun show to benefit the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center.  Kathy Smithson decided it was time to put together an evening of fun theatre at the same time benefiting a very worthy cause in our community.  So after two night’s of auditions the theatre group has come together with 4 Director’s of whom cast  11 Actors  to do 5 One Act Plays written by the very witty and acclaimed playwright David Ives.  The one act plays are based on Ives collection of 6 one act plays called “All in the Timing” of which Smithson felt was very fitting for the players, because of the “Player’s” history of many years doing benefit performances for many various organizations in our community. Now that they are building their group up again it was a perfect “All in the Timing” for  sure. Smithson reached out to fellow co-founders of the Mission Creek Players that are still around and still participating in theatre in one form or another; Steve Zimmerman, Sherry Shreck, Rod Molzahn and Kirk Dietrich in coming up with a re-surgence of their plays produced in the  80’s and 90’s when they produced play after play doing provocative and evocative pulitzer prize winning plays and felt it a perfect time to go back to the beginning of doing fun one act plays.  In further research of Ives many many plays this new creative team have chosen 5 of his works for this production. David Ives works have been being celebrated by many theatre troupes across the nation for the last year celebrating 20 years of his works and this play. Acting teachers across the country for years have used his works in their collegiate programs to teach the importance of good effective comic timing. Hence these are are very witty, intelligent, satirical and just plain fun comedy One Act Plays.  It should prove to be a very entertaining evening with various forms of entertainment all at the same time you get to provide needed support for our Museum.
